Nosey not eating / Syringe feeding

Hiya,

my bunny Nosey (3) is not eating. When I went to clean his home yesterday, he was just lying in his litter tray not moving and he seemed really tired, which is unusual for him. I also noticed that he hadn't touched any of his food. We went straight to the vets and she checked him over and discovered that one of his bottom teeth had broken off. He got some gut stimulant, some metacam (I have some for today and tmw as well). She also gave us sone science selective recovery to feet him. She said to feed him 2-3 times a day, I only got 4 ml down him yesterday, he is not that keen on it.

My question is how often should I feed him and how many ml should he have a day? I'm not sure if he is drinking either, he just seems to sit in his litter tray all the time. He is an indoor bunny, Lionhead and usually weighs around 1830g but is down to 1790g yesterday. He is on antibiotics injections as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Anne

You need to take him back to the Vet today. He needs intensive care which would include syringe feeds ( at least 10ml/kg every 1-2 hours) aswell as fluid therapy (IV or subcutaneous). So he probably needs admission.

Just giving medication is not enough when a Rabbit is not eating or drinking.

Good luck xx

Thanks for your reply, Jane!

I've just went to syringe feed him some more science recovery and he was sitting in this litter tray with some dandelion and grass in his mouth and chewing it, I also noticed a big poo, so fingers crossed he'll keep eating!
