  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Random speying question??

Luna went in for her spey today and was unbelievably alert when we got her home.

She hasnt done any poos yet so I am watching this, but she hasnt eaten anything either.

My random question is..... My bun went in with two upright ears and has come out with one up one down, can the operation cause this at all??

I'm only surmising here but could it be the effect of the anaesthetic? Or maybe it's just coincidence and the ears are getting to the age where they go to their natural position? How old is Luna? What breed is she?

Hmmm its very strange, she looks cute either way

She is 3-4 approx.. No idea what bread as she is a cross breed :)

3-4 years? Then that is odd! Maybe it's just muscle weakness from the anaesthetic. Has she eaten or pooed yet?

She has been drinking mainly - and had a tiny nibble of food - no poos yet :( If there are none by the morning the vet will be getting a phone call..

If she's had an intravenous catheter put in one ear the weight can make the ear lop temporarily, even after removal. It should go back to normal over a day or two.
If she is still not eating and pooing then definitely contact your vet this morning.

Mystery solved!

Hope she has a bit more of a nibble at something soon.
