Good Vets - north Beds / south Northants

Hi,

I recently moved and am looking for a good vets. Obviously I don't want to give too many details out with regards to location on an open forum, but I'm in the North Beds / South Northants area.

Need somewhere good and basic for jabs routine check-ups etc, but also somewhere with a bit of bunny savvyness about them.

Thanks

Hannah :)

Without a shadow of a doubt - The Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic at Duston in Northampton. Simon and Kim are a husband and wife team who run the practice and they are fabulous. They get lots of other vets contacting them for help and advise.

Several people on this forum use them. I travel half an hour from Milton Keynes to get to them and it's well worth the drive. And also, as the name suggests, they only treat cats, rabbits and other small furries so no dogs to worry about in the waiting room or kennel area.

I agree with the above (although I don't use them myself, I know many who do). I've only ever heard good things about them.

It is perhaps more of a trek but The Johnston Vetrinary Clinic in Wellingborough are pretty good with rabbits. They are small animal specialists and they actually seem to 'value' rabbits which is nice.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. Wellingborough is actually a fair bit nearer that Duston Northants so I may look into them.

Thanks

Hananh :)

If you do, ask about their healthy pet club. You pay a bit each month and you get your vaccinations and a bottle of Rearguard free and money off you bill if you go for anything else.

I use Johnston Vets too and agree with Friskyclover! I am a member of the healthy pet club too which is great as it allows you to spread the cost of vaccinations etc (with 6 rabbits this is quite important!!!). I use Well Pets in Rushden, and cannot reccomend them highly enough. Anja is a very clued up vet when it comes to rabbits. She also went to the RWAF conference this year - so is very dedicated to the bunny cause!

I have a dental bun so have to make regular trips to my vets, and would trust no-one other than Anja to look after them.

Their opening hours are good (9am-7pm - emergencies 6:30-7pm) and if they need to go in for the day - ie an op them drop off from 8am or the night before.either drop them off from 8am or the night before. Saturday is 9am - 12pm

I pay £12.50 for myxo vaccination and that includes a check up at the time. I never have to pay for any re-checks if I'm, going back for a previously seen problem.

They are linked to "Vets Now" for their emergency and out of hours care who are in Northampton Town Centre.

Although shut from Sat luch & Sun, I have been able to go up there on a weekend before for a pre-booked appointment when my buns have needed a daily injection or a daily check up etc.

Their details just for your info are:

Well Pets Veterinary Centre, 165 Wellingborough Road, Rushden, NN10 9TA
01933 314199.

I always see Anja.

I think Anja used to be at Johnston and if so I agree that she is clued up. Again, Kerin you may be interested in meeting up with others in the area, see my thread above?
Kind regards,
Carly
