Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Take h/her to a Vet.
It sounds as though h/she has a congenital hip problem which will leave h/her disabled for life. H/She will require lifelong care as a 'special needs' Rabbit or if this is not possible or if ongoing severe pain is an issue then PTS is the only other option.

If the legs have splayed out at only 2 weeks old then unfortunately the out look isn't that bright for the little bunny :(

As Jane says it has a congenital problem. Often when there are deformities obvious on the outside there are often internal ones too. Also as the baby grows and puts more weight and pressure on its legs its mobility will become even more of an issue :(

Been to vets, they said they can either splint the legs and see if it works or pts.we are gettin a second opinion from ivan cratz on friday. We can see why the previous owners wanted rid so fast:evil:

had a second opinion with different vet and she said NOT to splint as it can casue more problems.she says the hips are not deformed and he does have feeling in the legs,we are waiting until 6 weeks to re assess.he is such a happy lively little bun we must give hi a chance. She also says he is not in pain.:)

Has it had a fall?? Could the other baby or mum have rolled on it?? It may be just bruising....Has the baby been x rayed??
