It really is one thing after another with my two - UPDATE, Inca has a Poo Impaction!

Kermit

Wise Old Thumper
Herbie has broken bones in his foot, so we are waiting to go back for x-rays to see how it is healing, and thats fine.

Inca has hurt her toe and has a wee cut on it. The cut is infected and i keep having to sqeeze pus out (nice). She is on antibiotic injections for this and i am bathing it.

Anyways, i come in tonight and she has runny watery poo :(

I have called the vets and it is more than likely to be a reaction to the abx as she is doing normal poo too. I have given her some fibreplex and i am taking her up to the vets tomorrow.

She seems totally fine apart from the runny poo.....she is sitting munching loads of hay as i type!

I really don't think that i have had a time when both my bunnies have been ok! I am destined to be a bunny nurse forever i think!

Oh I am sorry both your buns are poorly, and really sorry to hear that Herbie has broken some bones, poor little fella.

I hope Inca's infection clears up soon and that her runny poos soon are back to normal.

In the meantime I will send some healing vibes your way.

I would advise you to talk with the Vet about giving Inca some Questran (Cholestyramine). Abx induced diarrhoea is potentially very serious and it is important to try to minimise the absorption of enterotoxins into the bloodstream. Questran can help 'mop' the toxins up.

Also, Metronidazole might be beneficial. It is an abx that targets the type of bacteria that can cause enterotoxaemia (clostridium)

Fluid therapy is also essential

Thanks for caring guys.
She seemed ok this morning, gave her some fibreplex to be sure, but taking her to the vets for her infection later this afternoon anyways.

You must have been typing this as i responded to the others. I will print this off and take it with me to the vets, they are quite rabbit savvy and willing to try things with my Inca, so will see what they say.

I will read the links just now (should be working, but hey ho!)

ETA: Have read through the links.....do you think i have to take her to the vets immediately? She has not had any diarrhoea since her spell about 10pm last night. I was thinking it was a vets case, but nothing urgent wise. She ate her breakfast well and done normal poo's before i left.

Anyone???

I wouldnt think you need to rush there if it was a one-off last night.. but I am not as clever as some people on here regarding bunnies.

Hope both bunnies get well soon x

I have an appointment for 3.30pm. Thats the earliest i could get with the vet that is good.

Gran is on her way up to mine just now to see if she is ok.

I am a nervous wreck in work today!

Gran has just been up and she is running about like a daft bunny, so thats good.
She felt her tummy and said that it doent feel hard.

Gran gave them some hay and Inca is munching it just now. :)

Bunnies - who would have them!

Just back from the vets. Inca has a poo impaction :(

She has had a Metoclopramide Injection. I have two more at home with me to give her tonight and tomorrow. I also have liquid paraffin to give her.

She has to come pff the ceporex injections and she now has Baytril. Her toe is in a bit of a mess with the infection, and i don't think that the Baytril will clear it up, but what can i do when the Ceporex may be causing her tummy problems.

Vet said the impaction may not be due to the Ceporex, but it is too risky to keep her on it just now.

Vibes needed if you have any spare x

We have some poos! Yayyy!
They are gunky and sticky and very smelly, but better out than in :):)

Hi hun, only just got on here coz have been internetless for a few days.
So sorry to hear incas impacted :( its great that shes pooing, thats absolutely the best sign for an impacted bun. Hopefully the drugs will work their magic and she'll pass the impaction. Make sure shes getting loads of fluids aswell.

Loads of vibes xxxxx
