Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dark Hair under chin...looks wet.

Buttons23

New Kit
Buttons is 4 months old and I have noticed in the last couple of days he has been rubbing his chin on everything. On closer inspection (when he lets me) the fur looks damp and stuck together and feels like there is a small lump.
Ive read up on some things like dewlaps and he did drink out of a bowl last weekend whilst out in the garden.
He also has two tiny lupms (like scabs) on his ear. could this be done to scratching too hard?
Other than that he doesn't seem different at all and certanly hasn't gone off his food.
Can anyone shed somelight on what it might be? Thanks!

The chinning is marking his territory and it gets wet when he is 'rivering' scent. This is characteristic of unneutered and unspayed, hormonal rabbits, although babies and also those who are spayed and neutered can do this too.

The scabs on his ears could be for many reasons. Could you post pictures?

Thank you for that, he isn't spayed so that might be why!

The scabs are too small, they don't show up in photos. what could it be?

Yes, chin rubbing is a marking behaviour. Although he shouldn't have a lump under his chin. Could he be drooling at all? Just ruling out anything medical :)

Scabs in his ears could possibly be earmites? I'm not sure tbh. does he scratch alot? Maybe get him for a full check over at your vets? :)

You could also discuss about getting him neutered if you wanted :)
