 2 hours in and they're still in the same pen! Heather has groomed Dudley a little and they are reasonably settled-ish together. If it was just those two I'd be happy that things would work out fine...Harry however is being a right grumpy little :censored: and is growling and attacking Dudley at every opportunity

We're going to stick with it though and hopefully they'll calm down during the afternoon...

Dudley and Harry are still having a bit of a stand-off but they are getting better. Dudley has humped both the others so far, much to their disgust  and he and Heather have groomed each other but he and Harry still have some way to go. I'm hoping for a quiet-ish night; Dudley has been stamping pretty much constantly all day, they all seem to be calming down now though and I've just turned the light off so hopefully they'll all settle down for a nap...

In a change from the previous technique of sleeping with bonding buns in the kitchen, this time I have decided to bring the dog crate to the bedroom and kick hubby out into the spare room

*yawns*

The night went something like this...

11:30-1:30 - much stamping, scrabbling and ripping of newspaper interspersed with some humping

1.30am fall asleep

3.30am wake up to the sensation of having wee flicked over me :? Cat comes over to investigate, wants attention, pat cat on head, doze back off.

5am it starts to get light and bunnies start getting noisy with their scrabbling and paper ripping again

6.30am Dudley finds his libido and starts humping both buns. Harry takes it all in his stride (he can probably barely feel the little fella on his back!) Heather accepts it for a while then decides she's had enough and she's going to hump back. Cue some scuffling.

As I type, Heather is sitting next to Dudley grooming him. Everyone has groomed everyone else at least once, although admittedly Harry's groom of Dudley was assisted by the presence of apple and pear baby food

So although I am reaaaally tired and they're still a bit skippy (and as the lops in particular are used to a playhouse with 12*6 run 24 hours a day they are horribly bored and so getting destructive) things are much more settled this morning and I'm hopeful that it will all work out ok :)

Harry is now lying with his head stretched forward so all three of them are nose to nose in the corner. This is definitely good progress :)

I must have spoken too soon, because he just did  Nothing bad though, and Dudley ran off and they calmed straight down again. They're all flopped out and/or grooming :) and I'm having another cup of tea and the last muffin!

Yeah they made an amazing racket all night scrabbling at the paper and ripping it, and the thumping of course  Fortunately OH said that he hadn't heard a thing

Thank you  I really hope it works, it'll be far better if they can all live together in one enclosure. I'm off work this week so I'm planning on keeping them in the dog crate all week and then moving them into Dudley's hutch for another week before finally moving them back to the enclosure in a couple of weeks time. In the meantime I plan to totally clean out and re-make the enclosure, including with a lid that I can actually open instead of having to crawl in!

Well, that's the plan anyway!

Is that the dog crate I borrowed all those years ago??

Santa
25-07-2010, 11:32 AM
Nope that one lives with Louise and Gus' mum these days  I traded it in for two slightly smaller ones :)

It's a small world innit

I just suddenly wondered if it was the one. I was so grateful for the loan of that at the time. :) I don't think you ever saw how much it filled the tiny kitchen - we had to walk round it with great difficulty, and virtually had to install a traffic light system!

This was my worry too as Harry and Heather are so close, I must admit I wouldn't do it out of choice, I'm really doing it out of necessity as Dudley has recently been bereaved and having one group instead of getting another and continuing with two pairs is better for me right now.

At the moment, Heather is dividing her time pretty equally between sitting with Harry and sitting with Dudley. Harry spends part of his time grooming Dudley and part of it attacking him :? It's been a day and a half so far and I haven't had to separate them completely at all so I am still feeling optimistic. I have completely cleared out and disinfected Dudley's hutch today so it has plenty of time to 'air' before I hopefully try moving them in there for a while later this week.

After some mad humping and chasing at approx 5am all is now calm :) We have happy flops and grooming between all buns. It just seems to kick off at dawn and dusk - and it's all Dudley's doing - but he has at least laid down properly today so I think he is starting to relax more now. Hopefully that's the worst of it over and I should get a full night's sleep tonight...?

i want three, but am going try next year, as my two have only been bonded since april, and don't want to rock their bond just yet. Do you think that a 9ft by 7ft room would be big enough for a three?? and then freerange time in the house ??:?

*sighs* everything would be fine if he didn't keep trying to hump the pair of them! He's been at it since about 5pm and only stopped temporarily when I put them all in the pet carrier together. They're starting to get really cross with him constantly pestering them and I'm worried it's going to end in a fight. He's humming and buzzing like an unneutered buck and everything :?
