Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Eating fine, but small poos

Just notice that some of Pip's poos are really quite tiny about half the size if not smaller than normal. He is eating fine (just gave him a couple of pellets and a basil leaf) and the poos are the same colour as normal.

Is is just a case of keeping an eye for any other changes at the moment?? Or am I worrying over nothing really?

No this is an early warning sign of slow-down (ileus) so it is wise to stay vigilant. I would personally feed bun a big plate of wet leafy greens - whatever bun normally has that doesn't cause upset. Nino is prone to this slow down and I use this warning and get him a nice big plate of washed and wet fresh grass, apple leaves, strawberry leaves, mint and basil etc.... get that tummy hydrated and moving again pronto! :)

He is now tucking into grass, basil leaves, spring greens and a bit of corriander. This is all I have in the house at the moment! I shall see how he goes, hopefully he will pick up!

Thanks for the advice!

If you can hydrate him then that shoudl sort things out (I'm wondering if he had access to water last night).

I would suggest getting bowls and adding different rabbit safe yummy things to them (as well as ensuring there is plain water too). I bet if you can hydrate him then they will come back to normal.

He did have access to water (I changed bottle to bowl) but I think he kinda prefers his bowl in the shed as this is the one that always needs filling! So with the stress of trying to chew his way into the shed and prob not getting much fluids has had an effect on him!

He is eating hay ok, drinking and ate all the grass and veg etc so fingers crossed he is ok!
