  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

some peope do some people dont its personal choice lots of advice on net is conflicting some read it does more harm some say its essential, i have never got round to doing mine yet with too much going on since having them when they were 8 weeks old, they are now nearly 5 months old one was very pooly then they had injections and both now been neutered i didnt want to bombard them both all at once done it step by step i will probably do them the once every few years, its a 28 days course and i thinks thats too much doing it often, mine are never likely to be near any other buns or taken to boarding at all so prob will so a full course once every couple of years or so although most pet store will advise 9 day course every 3-4 months i personally think its too much, they say we over worm our animals in our country. Remember injections muct be 2 weeks apart at least mine are due VHD tomo had t,heir Myxi two weeks ago and now been done

bit of a mix on veiws the worming thing, id wait until youve had him neutered, min of 12 weeks pending on vet and his plumbs dropping,

my doc worms didnt start to show until after his neuter and he was around one
when i rescued him, hes had worms twice and hes the only one i worm reg as he has low immune system, and has health probs

ive only wormed my buns altogether once in the time ive had them, and i wont again now unless for poss EC or they have worms

Very good cleaning of area, could help in prevention, but personaly unless they they have worm or they come into contact with other buns
