2 weeks after his dental at the specialists, 2 weeks after being given the all clear on his dental abscess...Pierre has developed a lump under his eye.

he had a vets appointment this morning. another abscess.
he has another vets appointment at 4 today (this time with the specialists). i was so hopeful that he had finally beaten this. hes fought so hard. i cant believe this.

i feel so drained.

my poor boy had an operation today to remove the abscess. the vet said it attached to the bone and they were unable to remove the entire capsule.
they have left part of the wound open allowing them to pack it with an antibiotic paste to try and remove the last of the abscess so Pierre will be staying in at least for the next 24 hours.they have also taken a swab for a culture to try and see if there is an specific antibiotic that will help him.

its just so unfair. i really thought that we were beating this now it seems its worse than ever.

Oh poor Pierre, how nasty :( I hope the op together with some specific ab will clear it up. Sending loads of vibes.

I know how draining it is looking after a bun whos poorly for a long time. The stress and the worry can really get too much :( Sounds like you are doing a fab job. sending loads of suppportive hugs to you

Pierre has been in intensive care since his op on tuesday . fluids had to be adminstered intravenously and he needed to be syringe fed after he stopped eating following the operation. i just rang the vet and was told he is eating on his own again and he can come home today.:)

thank you for everyone who has voiced thair support. though his long term prognoses is not good im just so pleased that he is coming home
