  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Flopsy and Toto are booked in for their op i believe boys recover quicker than girls but wondered what sort of med i need to ask to bring home, they will both be 18 weeks and i still have metacam and the gut stimulant from when Toto had illness at 8 1/2 weeks (i think was stasis) do i use these or get more from vets seems daft if i already have them in cupboard? but guess i may need more with two of them needing them? also i will pen them in large dog crate in house for few days until i see them both eating drinking and pooping properly is this ok anything else i need to know i am very nervous:(
i can keep them together cant i??, not had fighting or anything yet only odd hump but they still besotted with one another lol brotherly love eh

thanks in advance

Your vet should give you some more metacam and gut stimulant

Try not to worry, boys normally do well :) just keep an eye out for eating and pooping, discourage exercise for a few days and watch them to make sure they don't chew the wound.

You can keep two boys together, it's just a boy and girl that need separating in case he humps her and causes an internal injury. I personally would only separate them if they start humping, fighting or chewing each other's wounds. If they're bonded it might only make things distressing for them.

Good luck :)
