  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Any advice ?

Sugar has had weepy eyes for about 6 weeks now,in that time she has had two tear duct flushes and an anaesthetic and a small spur burred.
She has had eye drops and oral antibiotics and nothing seems to have worked.

She is seen by the pdsa and they seem reluctant to give her an xray as they said her teeth line up ok and she is only young ,10 1/2 months.

Do you think i should take her to another vet as i hate to see her looking miserable although she is eating as well as ever.

She is due to go back to pdsa tues so any advice would be appreciated ,thanks x

I am not an expert by no means but to me it does sound it could be root enlongation but she is very young to be suffering with that, does she eat a lot of hay?

Edit: Just read that she had an anastetic to have her spur burred, why did they not do an xray at the same time!?

I thought they were ,prob to save money :( .I am going to push for one though as i think they are just going to give different eyes drops again !

But if you asked them to do it then they should have done it, after all it would be you paying for it not them!
