  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i'm maybe in the wrong section here but just a quick question

i just brought home my 9 week french lop today and he seems very relaxed after a big day BUT! he wont stay in the nice cosy sleep compartment of his hutch and is instead dozing agianst the wire and has somehow manoveured his litter tray so its against his other side.
now the question should i give him a hot water bottle as this is first night away from his littermates or since it mild out and not very cold should i let him work it out for himself ?

and if i give him a hot water bottle should i put it in the bedding area and hope he goes in or put it under a blanket where he wants to be ???

ok thank you thats no prob he's plenty of that i'm prob just being over protective lol

there's no such thing with bunnies, they are surprisingly fragile creatures! But just by asking questions you've shown you obviously care. Welcome to the forum

ok i dont feel so bad lol i cant help it hes not even here a day but i swear he took almost as much prep as our son did lol

and thanks again everyones been so great on here:p

You've not been around us lot long enough yet then! we're all fussy bunny mummies!

 so true.

I agree he doesn't need a hot water bottle, think it's a bit warm for one, but you could maybe give him a cuddly toy if you have a spare one. He'll be fine without though :)
