Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bio-Lapis

Young Bun
Hi,

My bun is on Baytril and I have been given some Bio-Lapis probiotic as she was not eating alot (still taking hay and some fave veg). I was told to put the powder in her drinking water - but she doesn't like the taste of it (she hates apples and it is kind of appley flavoured). I have given her fresh water back so she doesn't get dehydrated, but still want to get some probiotic into her. Do you know if I can mix it to a thin paste and syringe it into her, rather than making the 50ml isotonic solution suggested on the sachet. This morning I gave about 5ml of the isotonic soln. but would like her to have more without me stressing her out too much.

Hmmmmmm... My naughty bun is totally off pellets. I dipped a lettuce leaf into the fluid, but she wouldn't take it (even tho she loves lettuce, it seems she hates bio-lapis more!!)

Maybe I could try and sprinkle it on some dandilions or clover but I think it may roll off again... :?

when Ralph wouldn't take fibreplex (and I know it's a different consistency) I used to put it in "spinach parcels" -- so smear it in spinach or his favourite treat and he'd take the outside and get halfway through it and in the middle would realise there was fibreplex in the middle but just have to swallow it as it was already halfway down.

the other options was to put it on his paws and he is such an obsessive groomer that he'd have to force himself to lick it off.

Third option is put it in watered down pineapple juice, or grapefruit juice, or whatever juice appeals?
