  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fertility

Does a rabbit remain fertile for the whole of her life or does she have a biological clock ticking:roll::roll:

I'm looking after a 10 year old and the lady had a 9 week old male in with her, she has not been spayed. I have seperated them now as he is 4 months old now and she is due to return and pick them up any day.

Is there any chance he could make her pregnant which I'm sure would finish her off (the poor old girl). She is going to have him done when he is old enough.

I'm just worried she will put them back together

I will tell her not to but I can't make her at the end of the day.

What do you think?

I would say its possible the Doe could be fertile, but not likely.

The poor Doe will be constantly pestered by a hormonal young Buck

Thanks old wise one! (oops not so much of the old sorry)

I thought you would know Jane, he did drive her up the wall but he is very sweet.:lol:

I will try and lend her a cage for a few months until she can have him done, they get on very well I think she mothers him:roll::roll:
