  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

help with petplan jargon

Alpha Buck
:wave:My bunny sooty was treated a few months ago for molar spurs, (ie back teeth filed down under anesthetic), I sent my claim off to petplan and recieved a settlement cheque for his "mouth and oral disorders"

However in the claim details it says this:

"Your pet insurance does not cover the cost of trimming teeth. We have included the cost in your claim settlement because the treatment is connected by the diagnosis. Although we have paid this cost on this occasion we will not be able to help you for any future claims for trimming you rabbits teeth"

Im new to pet insurance and have no idea what this means? if anybody can tell me it would be a huge help as I am begining to think his spurs may be coming back.:(

Will petplan cover him if he has the same work done again??

Thanks

Looks like it's excluded by Petplan's "What we will not pay" Item 14. The cost of trimming, burring or rasping rabbits’ teeth.

yeah petplan won't pay for trimming teeth in rabbits but sometimes they will pay out for complications from teeth probs like abscesses tear duct flush etc but generally anything mouth related in a rabbit is not covered
