Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Ear lopping...

Ambience

Warren Veteran
Is it normal for one ear to lop on a bunny? I just noticed someone else here posting with it. Do bunnys ears sometimes lop naturally or is this something the bunny does?

My rabbit shadow has had one ear down and one up for days. Is his ear going to stay like that permanently or is it a behavioral thing?

Nothing healthwise to worry about i take it? I don't have lops so i don't know :)

Thanks.

Ear lopping and control depends on genetics and the size of the crown between the ears.

A wide crown will mean full lopping and little to no control of the ears, but a tighter crown may mean sometimes they lop and sometimes they don't and more control, some may just have aeroplane ears, or one up, one down, or 'lops' can even have two ears sticking up in the air.

A sudden onset of a lopped ear in an 'up-eared' Rabbit can be indicative of a problem eg infection or ear mites.

Wasn't even thinking of it with regards to uppy eared bunnies suddenly becoming lops, was just thinking of lops.

Sorry, yeh, what Jane said.
