The Great Unveiling of my playhouuuuuuse! ^_^

Mama Doe
So, I've been banging on about my playhouse for ages but haven't actually posted any pictures... I was trying to get it all properly 'RU Approvable'

Brian lived in it for quite some time until he decided to bond himself to Thistle and Jess so Cloud and Barley moved in instead. :) The playhouse is roughly 7X5 and I built a 6X3 run from scratch. I would have liked the run to be bigger but it runs along behind my shed and not only are my measuring skills questionable, but I don't think I'd of been able to fit through if it was any wider.

I'm really proud of my playhouse as, for the most part, I built it entirely by myself. My friend Ben helped with the base and helped with the first three wall panels as I couldn't screw them together and hold them up at the same time but the rest was all me! And I had to use a handheld screwdriver as Dad 'couldn't find the battery' for the electric screwdriver (which magically turned up once I was finished and had a bunch of blisters on my hands ). Anyhoo, enough babbling...

Wonky door!

The run (built in the same slightly wonky fashion as the door  and I still have one little bit of wood to screw to the edge of the roof but I couldn't reach!).

Cloud is apparently bored of the run...

The cat flap (which they learnt to use in the funniest fashion I have ever seen...) and their hidey box.

So what do you all think? I know it's not the prettiest of playhouses but I'm really proud of it.:D:lol:

:D Thankies guys!

I still have a few more things I'd like to sort out - like replacing the hidey box in the run as that ones real old and it's been chewed half to death! I'd also like to get a little kennel or something for inside the house rather than the cardboard box. I didn't realise quite how much the whole thing would end up costing though so I shall have to save up some pennies for those!

Cloud and Barley don't seem to mind their substandard hidey boxes though!

O wow, that looks great.
I`d love to have something like that for my rabs. Was the run difficult to make? I`m thinking of attempting to make one for penny.

Not really. I'm the most useless person in the world for sawwing and DIY etc so it can't be that hard! It's a little wonky but it's actually really sturdy and doesn't wobble at all.

I'd try to get some second hand wire if you can though. I didn't measure mine with the wire in mind really so I ended up wasting loads of cut off bits and using two rolls. The rolls were about £25 each so I think by the time I was done, it probably would have been cheaper to buy one. With clever measuring though, I bet it'd be well worth making your own. :)

looks amazing:)
i was thinkingof meshing the porch for ma lot

Oooh, yeah! Do it! I chose the design of my playhouse thinking I could wire the front but then when it arrived I thought I wouldn't as it seemed a bit of a mission... but I'm glad I did as it adds loads more space for them. I think the porchy bit is about 5X3 so that's an extra 15 square foot. :) It's also nice and shady in the morning when there's full sun on the run, and then nice and sunny in the evening when the run is in the shade - so Barley and Cloud always have the choice of sitting in the sun or shade (weather permitting!).

Awww well done you! :D xx

It looks great - am very impressed! :)

I can't wait to get my set-up sorted out - have been looking on ebay for hidey boxes and things for the inside of the shed and the run lol.

With this horrible weather Jack says he'd rather stay inside though...... ;) ........ but I think they'll love being outside.

Thats ace!!!!!....Been trying to get HIM to remove the rubbish from MY shed that belongs to HIM.Im halfway there...reckon next summer........;)

it amazing! i'd love to live in one of those :)
how much did all the wood and stuff cost, i want one? :D

It didn't cost tooooo much, although it definately ended up costing more than I thought it would.

It started out life as one of these - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.j...efview=lister&ts=1276035234218&isSearch=false - except I got it a lot cheaper. I ordered instore at B&Q and used my mum's old folks discount card and it ended up being just over £200 including delivery to teh Isle of Wight. I've found that everything I've ordered from B&Q has ended up costing me less than catalogue price somehow! :D

I used two rolls of wire which were £25ish each. Two packs of wood which were £15 a pack, wood paint was £25 and then the shelves and lino etc which are just extras really. I guess by the time I'd finished, it probably cost me somewhere around £280. I think that's alright though. That's probably the same price as buying a decent big hutch and run and I'm sure there's a lot more space in the playhouse and it's probably going to last longer. :)

That is absolutely amazing, I hope you are very proud of yourself!!
I'm cheating with mine... Im buying a shed from B&Q, then inviting my boyfriend and his friends round for a "bbq" and then knowing them (they think they are really macho) they will put it together for me!
Yours is inspirational though, I hope I can get mine to be even just a bit like yours, its fabulous!
