  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New owners - help needed

my new baby bunny Miguel's stomach is making loads of gurgley noises...He is eating loads of hay and food, and seems to be pooing ok and is hopping around happily.. just his belly is making these noises.. any advice would be really really appreciated..

Oh and we have given him some apple (very small amounts) could this be a factor?

I have had a look on google and it came up with suggestion of gas.. and suggested massaging his belly, which doesn't feel particulary hard. When we did this, he did seem to do a few more poops.. but thats about it.

Thanks in advance!

It might just be a change in diet slightly. If he is pooping he ought to be fine.

Does he eat really fast? My bunny Biscuit gets a noisy tummy but she eats like a monster! It's not likely to be anything to worry about, just being a guts and getting used to his new diet. Keep an eye on his poops and his tummy to make sure it isn't swollen.

:)

No problem at all. I remember the first time Biscuit got the hiccups, I nearly had a heartattack!

Hope you stick around for bunny chat...we are a nice bunch :)
