sex/plummage :)

vilonor

Warren Scout
ok in a earlier thread by someone they said they noticed hes ''plums'' had dropped and were visible at 4 months

now buzz is 10 months and no plums.. ive tried sexing him but 1) ive never done it before so could get it wrong and 2 he hates it and i dont want to stress him

now could lack of plummage mean they were wrong and buzz is a buzzette???

*title edited for rosiebunnies amusement lol*

love the title!:lol::lol:

I think there are some good threads on here about how to sex a bunny with photographs -try a search under rabbit health?
sue:wave:

also some rescues will sex a bunny for you.

the rescue i got him from, did try to sex him but the guy admitted he was poo at doing it! so he could be wrong!

ive looked at the photos, but buzz / ette really doesnt like me going near that region lol

well I guess there's no rush to find out as long as he/she's living apart from other un-neutered buns?

I hope someone more experienced than me will come on here to advise you.
:wave:sue

Do you have a rabbit savvy vet you could take him to, to find out the sex?

s/he is solo

i was just curious really at the sight of plummage at 4 months, logically i would expect to see them on buzz/ette too if that makes sense?

I think if he was a boy.. he would have plums by now.. and you would notice them! :oops:

What age did you get him from the rescue?
Are you sure he wasnt neutered at the rescue? If he was then he wouldnt have any plums ;) Then you would only be able to tell by looking at his erm.. yeah ;)
There are plenty of photos on the net :oops:

To make sure i would take him to the vet for a check up and ask the vet :) They should be able to tell you.

s/he has not yet been neutered the rescue told me to contact them in a months time to schedule him/ her in for it...so i guess i will know outright then! but its really bugging me now!!!

ok... IF i manage to get him/her into position and take some porno pics of hes/her region... how'd you lot fancy being my vet and telling me what he/her is!!!

Personaly i would suggest asking someone to hold the bun for you, while you check yourself.

Heres a website which will help you; it shows you what to do :oops:

Click here

omg.. upside down??? i dont stand a chance!!!! i tried this before and got nipped!!!

hmmm maybe other half should hold him/her

my hands are covered in scratches from George...

It is better when there is more of you to help :)

I do believe there is such a thing as a hermaphrodite bunny though I gather this is extremely rare.

Hopefully you will find out which sex when you manage to get a look underneath.

I would take the bunny to a vet to determine the sex as you say the rescue was unable to do so. The vet could also do a full health check and book in for neuter. Ask on here on a separate thread for any rabbit savvy vets members could recommend near you.

I honestly think that by ten months you would be able to see his plums. I could see my Charlie's at 6 months clearly when he was hopping about so I'm sure Buzz is female :lol:

Does buzz/ettte do any of the following:

circle your feet making hmmmm hmmmmm noises;
spray urine;
hump things (cushions, stuffed toys etc etc)

OR

Carry hay around in mouth to make nests
pull out fluff to make nests
get grumpy at certain times for no reason
