You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. bunny not moulting!!!

Mokey

Young Bun
My two 6-and-a-bit month old buns have very dense fur coats (which i was very glad of over the winter as they are outdoor rabbits I adopted from my rescue in january). One of them is starting to show a colour change to his fur which i believe is a sign of moulting but neither of my babies are loosing much fur.

I'm getting worried now as the weather is getting warm now and they have spent all of today sprawled out in their hutch (which is never even touched by direct sunlight) and havent even ventured out into their run!

Their run is in direct sunlight in the morning but is shaded by the house after about 1 ot 2 o'clock when it is in the shade of the house. I have the hutch in a perpetually shaded nook which i am now eternally gratefull for and the hutch ios connected to the run by a pipe that is supposed to mimic a warren burrow i think.

They have just spent the entire day in their hutch at the mouth of their pipe where they get a little breeze.

Shouldent they be shedding their winter coats by now? I'm a little worried as by babies were panting a bit today tho their breathing rate did settle down when they were eating the nice cold apple i gave them. I have tried grooming them but very little fur comes off on the brush!

The weather has been very changeable so it's not surprising that some buns are stuck with the wrong coats at the wrong times. Personally I would find some wood or something to shade off part of the run in the morning as well, so they can stretch their legs if they need to.

If they are so young it means they were born in winter so they won't have grown a winter coat :) or so I've read!

Bob hasnt started moulting either yet, which worried me, but i put it down to the strange weather this year! Hopefully he will start soon as its very hot here now!
