  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fall, Shock or Injury?

New Kit
the Baby i am hand rearing has been very jumpy lately, natural for around 3 weeks, but he just fell, about 1 and a half feet, back first onto the floor, and was unable to roll around, i picked him up his body was very spazzy and he was squeling but all this was only for no longer than half a minute, he then started running around, had a bit of milk and looking at him now, he looks fine (even tried to jump again) My nan says it was just the shock of the fall and right now you would of thought 5 minutes ago he was squeling, so could it just be shock coz physically he seems fine

Yes, he could have been badly shocked.

I would place him somewhere cool, dark and quiet for a few hours as whilst he may 'appear' to be OK that may be the result of an adrenalin rush- a response to the fright of the fall.

Well he'shad a bit of a nibble and is currently cuddled into his teddy, which he does alot anyone, i will going out shortly so he will have the room to himself anyway
