Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Museli or Pellets

New Kit
If you read my othe post you will know i am hand rearing a baby rabbit.

he's just over 2 weeks now and sligtly nibbling on hay, now i read somewhere this is a good time to interest rabbit food for them to nibble on.

but i also read somewhere else it should be pellets and not museli.

We feed our rabbits museli and they are very happy with it, but i wondered if it made a difference to the baby, not a problem if it does i'll go and get some pellets, but just thought i'd check as no point buying pellets if the museli is ok

A pellet...more nutritional than muesli type foods, has more fibre....I'm not sure whether you would soak in water to soften a little due to age of baby as I've no experience of such young bunnies. I'm sure somebody will come and advise you soon :D

I really wouldn't recommend muesli. We fed Mischa on muesli the first few years of his life and he has more problems than the other two, now that may be a coincidence but we also found it VERY difficult to get him to eat pellets once he had that taste for muesli. The problem with muesli is they will eat all the bits they like and leave the bits that are healthy for them. They don't get that choice with pellets, although mine still go crazy for pellets now after weeks in a battle of wills with Mischa!

I fed my rabbits on muesli when I was younger, and use pellets now. The buns on pellets are much more lively than the rabbits ever were on the muesli and seem much more healthy. Muesli normally has a lot of bad bits in, and encourages selective feeding
