In need of bun savvy vet in Essex

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a bunny savvy vet in the South Essex area. I have had buns for most of my life, but unfortunately I have recently lost two buns through operations . I have a two year old french lop, Phoebe, and I know she should be spayed but I'm abosultely terrified of taking her to the vets. (one of the buns I lost had just been spayed, then she developed GI stress which went undected by the vet, and was unknown by me, I've now learnt the hard way what it is).

Anyway I would be grateful for any recommendations, coz I hate going the vets and feeling like I know more about buns then they do.

Thanks

I'm so sorry to hear about your bunnies. :(

I use Riverside vet in Grays; I've not had any problems there, and use it mainly because it's so close.

Louise and Gus highly recommends Wylie vets in Upminster though; I can't remember the vet's name  but he is very bunny savvy and if I ever had any doubts about the treatment at my own vet I would transfer to Wylie in a shot.

So sorry to hear about your losses :(

I would definitely recommend William Lewis at Wylie & Partners in Upminster, it's right by the A127 so easily accessed. He is a qualified 'exotics' expert (rabbits are classed as exotic pets) and Louise talks very highly of him. In fact, a guy who used to run another rabbit referral practice in Essex recommended William to her rather than the practice he used to own! I would definitely suggest going there if you are near enough.

Thanks, I've heard of Wylies in Upminster, they were the only vets in the area that were promoting Rabbit awareness week! Why don't more vets specialise in buns???

As others said I use William lewis at wylies and reccomend him to everyone. all the vets and nurses there have extra rabbit training from William so the other vets are good as well. :) I trust him completely.

Thanks everyone, I'm in Brentwood, so not to far from Wylies. To be honest I don't care about the mileage, I'd travel miles to make sure Phoebe is in the best hands. I think I'll make an appointment for her to have her jabs :(, that will keep her happy
