very dry skin help please

Hiya i am new to the forum,
so would be gratefull for some advice
My black otter rex is moulting, but down his back he has very dry skin almost like what could be described as cradle cap, would this be caused by some kind of mite or something else, any advice would be appreciated
as much info as possible, so if he needs to go the vet i am a bit more clued up

looking at the attachment it looks very similar but with out the sore patches
off to ring the vet thanks again:D
 
I phoned the vet friday but the only appointment they had was today,
took currant and she took some samples of his fur and dandruff but could find any mites, so she thought it was best to treat him for Cheyletiella anyway
he has to has 3 courses and go back in a month after the 2nd course thank you for your advice it is very much appreciated
