My fosterer sent me these pics, the babies were born Friday after having to be induced at the vets when her contractions stopped. She is worried they are not being fed.

as with all baby animals, as they are feeding/once fed they will have a rounded tummy. if you gently prod the tummy it will be 'squidgy'. You would then notice that the tummy reduces is size gradually until the next feed. The bunnies in your pics do not look as though they have 'just fed' tummies.

I wouldnt like to say as its tummy is wrinkly, they should have fat little tums :?Hopefully someone more experienced will be along.Sending vibes xxx

It does look a little wrinkly to me. Does the mum have milk? She could try holding the babies to mum to feed... support the mum in a sitting position and latch the babies one to feed one at a time.

If she's got some accurate scales weighing them now and again in 24hrs should show a difference. Dehydration is the first issue if not, so feeding them a little plain boiled water (cooled) in a clean syringe will tide them over without upsetting their tums like substitute milk.

My fosterer had de scented her hands in mothers dirty litter.

It was for the purpose of photos as she was worried about the deterioration of this litter like the last one.

All 5 are still with us currently.

Holding them in her hands in fine.

I don't think they look very fed right now. They are in need of a feed. Could your fosterer encourage mum to feed?

Yep, they look a bit skinny to me. Has she tried holding them to mum to feed?

they look a bit on the skinny side. I had quite a bit of sucess this morning with tempting mums with some greens and placing the skinny bunny under her, holding it in my hand for support. S/he suckled for about half a minute and the difference is astounding. Mum licked her/him after to clean and then I popped back in the nest. These are bunnies that are less than 24 hours old.

If she's happy to allow this try it up to 3 times a day until it looks like they are being fed alone. You can help to stimulate her milk by giving lots of fresh leafy greens, especially parsley, spring greens & kale as well as unlimited pellets for the moment. I found these links helpful:

there is another link as well which has some very good photos but I cannot find it for love nor money.
