Marble, still unwell - now using an inhaler

Marble has put back on 0.4kg

The vet is baffled. neither the baytril or the bisolvon helped his breathing, vet could hear a difference on his right lung, so was xrayed on wed. but the xray showed nothing. nothing at all.

Whilst under more bloods were taken again, maybe a comparison with those taken when he had first lost weight will indicate something.

It was a huge worry if he would tolerate a GA, with resp difficulties.

both buns have a few days left of lapizole.

opinions please

Repeat Blood results back

Marbles vet has just phoned, we are unable to get to the bottom of Marbles jerky breath taking.
The blood results are showing all clear, the xray was clear, Although the lungs sounded different on each side prior so.....

We are going back tomorrow for a weight check, (fingers crossed he will have put back on a little more weight)
Marble has been having the lapizole for 27 days, (and Alfie)

does anyone else have a bun that seems to 'push out' the lungs?
what do you and your vet feel?

on the x ray, marbles head at the top, xray taken from above, the right side was considerably smaller than the left, this, he said was normal as i questioned the difference.

ETA before the xray i asked vet if it might be a heart prob. he listened to it, and said the heart was making all the right sounds, it was the lungs that were different.

Vets at 6 pm

another 24 hours and he is exactly the same.

:?

Vibes please that, although this breathing is not 'normal', we can be certain he isnt in discomfort
or
IT IS EVIDENT WHAT IS CAUSING IT!!!

Personally I'd be asking again re the size of his heart as seen on the radiographs. Were both a dorsal and ventral view taken ?

What is his tolerence to excercise like?

the original xrays were taken from above, and the side.
i didnt notice the heart on the side views, because i had been assured the heart should look like that, we were looking for any sign of lung difficulty.

as to exercise, yes, before the xray, he did seem to flop, tired out, after a dining room romp and pellet run. however, just re assessed (thanks for the prod) he has had a very good run around the dining room and pellet fest without a flop anywhere.

Marble still puzzles the vet. He has put more weight on since last tuesday, even after a GA! Vet assures me the heart is normal in size and shape.
He is being referred to a heart specialist, he will have a scan (no GA).
We will know when when the vet has spoken to the specialist.

That sounds like a good idea. I hope that the Specialist can come up with a diagnosis xx

Not Marbles Heart

The cardiologist (and collegue) spent so long with Marble. The time, compassion and care for Marble was so perfect.

She studied the xrays and listened to his heart and shaved him under both armpits before setting up the cardio equipment.
Firstly, she noticed that his lips were quite blue (bear in mind he has just been examined and then shaved so was pretty stressed).
The scan showed NO problems with the his heart.
She concluded the lung sounds suggest asthma. Marble will have some steroid via a inhaler when it arrrives tomorrow.
She will be doing research on asthma in rabbits! Guess where I pointed her!
We are relieved its not his heart, and pray that he can cope with the treatment.

I am pleased that a diagnosis has been established :)
