will humping die down?

i've got a new male rescue bunny to bond with my spayed female. he was already neutered when the rescue got him (by his previous owners) but he is still so rampant it's like he hasn't been done! i thought it was a dominance thing but everytime his nose is by the female's backend he starts honking and humping her (which is really annoying her and causing fights :? )
will he always be a rabbit that humps a lot or is it cos he is still getting to know her?
