New Kit
almost a year ago, i checked on my beloved pet to find him with twitching dull eyes. I rushed him to the vet who confirmed he was blind.
he had several weeks on baytrill and panacur
his eyes were a bit weepy but his eye sight returned.
Strangley he was a nasty bitey bun before this, hes been cuddley ever since, spookily so.
I thought it could have been a stroke but the vet said rabbits dont have strokes and another said they dont have strokes and live.
so the weepy eye got worse and looked like snuffles and was treated again with baytrill,
no improvement
a xray and bloods were taken with no findings, his teeth were fine
he had his ducts flushed
more antibiotics
no improvement
he started to loose weight and I started to feel he was never going to get better
more panacur and probiotics
as a last resort he had a 2 week course of injected penicillin.
the infection cleared up but still no weight gain
his diet was always good, excel dwarf and junior, good hay and some herbs/veg fresh water.
The vets last suggestion was to continue this diet, but to restrict his exercise
and over a few months he put the weight back on and is now his happy healthy self but cuddlier.
Does any of this make sense to anyone? It baffled me and quite a few vets used to treating buns...
