Mistletoe Snowgoose taking ages to poo/eat properly

After his nasty attack of bloat and having his stomach contents pumped out MS is taking ages to get better.

He had it done Thursday and then was back in vets Friday al day, and then was seen yesterday am - but is still only eating very little an dpooing only tiny little string together poos.
he is on metaclop and zantac and metacam . .

- yesterday the vets managed 10mls feed down him - but it takes us 10 mins just to get the meds in and we have no hope of supplementary feeding.

he will nibble at hardy geranium and the odd dandelion but nothing else . .

Any suggestions?

PS can you get injectible metaclop???? he is nigh on IMPOSSIBLE to medicate

Fibreplex, fluids and more food in his tummy to stimulate the gut - even if that means syringe foods and fluids, if not oral then sub-cuts to rehydrate his tum. I have found my buns in the middle of GI crises soak it up like a sponge and you can never give them too much fluid.
Is he really to stressy for syringe foods? It might be worth braving it just once to get as much fibre in as possible to stimulate things, it might only take one syringe feed to kick start stuff, but the CC is really excellent at bulking up and triggering the motility I find.

The only other thing is time. Both my bun and thumps, among others, are finding recovery slow this time around, I don't know why :? What we are discovering is that bunny guts are very long and it takes a hell of a lot of food to fill them up properly again. In my experience motility takes a good 2 weeks to get back up to speed. I would suggest continuing metclopramide and zantac for atleast 5 days. Hope bun feels better soon. x

Pretty Lupin: The subcuts I have here are about 10 days old so will probably get vets to fluid hi again tomorrow: Re syringe feed - we are talking a bun who the vet nurses only got half of the proposed feed anywhere near the other day - and there were three of them on the case.
He is a ball of claws and teeth and a specialist in the last minute head jerk - and STRONG. Really - my partner can medicate and syringe feed almost any bun but MS does NOT believe in co-operation.


Jacks-Jane; not sure if they gave him an x-ray - I suspect they did before they then pumped out stomach contents. Will ask Monday.

We once had to treat Herbie at home because he became too stressed when he was hospitalised which was making his stomach problem even worse. We were given metaclop to inject at home. (We'd had plenty of practice with injections as we had a diabetic cat and had to inject insulin twice a day).

I hope your bunny feels better soon.
