Eating ears!!!!????!!!!

Was at a local petting farm in Morpeth today and was really shocked when we got to the rabbits and noticed a quarter of them only had one or no ears!

We asked about this immediatly and were told that it was quite common as the mothers can "Over groom their babies when they are very young." Is this correct? They said you never see such rabbits in pet shops as they wouldn't be sold and even though they had rabbits for sale they "Don't sell the ones with one/ no ear."

Is this correct? Is it normal? Should I be concerned?:roll::roll:

It can often happen. The mother over grooms the baby resulting in half and ear or even ears completely missing. Kirkby Pet Rescue has a couple of earless bunnies in and they are fine.

Yep, its quite common i believe :) Stumpy on here had his ears groomed off, hes absoutely stunning!:love: Liz @ Rainbow Rabbits also has a few buns with stumpy ears too :) xxx

Some buns have some toes missing too! ;) It's normal, and is usually a case of overgrooming rather than stressed mothers. :)
