HUGE vibes for Damson's mega-op UPDATE Post 62 2 weeks on

parsnipbun

Wise Old Thumper
After much discussion and heart searching Damson, our 9 year old ragamuffin, has gone in this morning for an operation to remove the kidney which has a stone in. For the last 6months the stone has been causing intermttent intense pain as it shifts and breaks up and travels around in bits. When he is pain free he is well and happy and amazingly fit for his age . . only yesterday he binkied on the patio!

But the episodes of pain are more are more frequent (almost weekly now) and the vet and we feel that he either has to be PTS or try the op.

It is not an op. with a huge success rate as they have to remove most of the insides to get to it but it is his only hope of a few more months or a year of pain free life.

After the trauma of this week with Teasal we almost did not go ahead but Damson needs to have this pain sorted out so we have to be strong for him.

Please think of him and send very positive thoughts today and for the weekend.

here is a piccvie of the cheeky little one to give you something to think of . .

Oh wow. Good luck to him and I'll be thinking of you guys as you chew your nails waiting to hear.

OK - first of many updates.

He has had the op and got through it. He is just starting to come round.

The next stage is getting him to eat and drink, making sure the intestines, liver and remaining kidney are still working, no internal adhesions, and of course pain management.

It was the right kidney which is nestled up against the liver and underneath the intestines (whichever way you go in) and so its not just a matter of getting him round.

BUT the first stage is over - and he has made it through that. He is SUCH a fighter. I am SO proud of him for getting this far.

Well done Damson, keep fighting little bun!! Sending lots of vibes for a good recovery and that everything is fully functioning again soon!
