  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Young Bun
How do you know if your bunny has fleas?

Lately i've found quite a lot of bites (at least i think they're bites) on my arms and legs, i often get bitten by insects but people are telling me its the wrong time of year for that (i'm not much of a nature girl so no idea about that sort of thing).

How do i know if they are coming from Arthur and should i treat him anyway?

He doesn't seem to be itching and i cant find any actual fleas or bites on him (but he has a lot of fur for hiding in). He's also an indoor rabbit and he is regularly cleaned out. Should i do anything to my soft furnishings just in case (he sits on the sofas and sometimes on the bed too).

I would be inclined to say that if you can not see any on bun and he is not itching then he does not have fleas. :?

If your bun as fleas then you should be able to see flea muck in the fur. you would also see the fleas. check the back of the neck and shoulders and also near his rear end.
