Red wee

Now, I know I've read answers to this before on the forum, but I don't think I am using the right search words to get the threads I need to read.....WHY does a rabbit do red wee ? Mint has eaten nothing red/brown, but he did eat dandelion leaves...would they cause this ?

Its pigments from certain dark leafy veg and plants. Carrots of course can also cause it.

I agree with the other post completely. Dandelions are notorious for it.
They look green now, but when the green chlorophyll is absorbed in autumn or when the leaves die back we are left with the pigments causing Autumn colours - reds & golds.

Another cause of red wee is stress, usually severe. It is caused by the bunny's own porphorins.

Ah interesting. He doesn't seem stressed, and healthy in every other way....but I guess he could have been by the smell of another rabbit I looked after for a few weeks ?
