  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

New Kit
I am looking for some advice from you please regarding my poorly rabbit.
He is off his food, very listless, just wants to sleep and seems very unhappy. He has runny eyes but this is an ongoing thing with him but I have never seen him so unresponsive. He has an outdoor hutch which he uses through the day but I bring him in at night. Starting to panic thinking he has all kinds of things because of this unpredictable weather. I would be grateful for any advice please.

good luck - My charlie boy had similar symptoms and is now on his 2nd day at the vets... Bunnies can go down hill VERY quickly so need to see a vet asap!

Let us know how he is!

GOOD NEWS: Thumper is on the mend.
The vet suspected an upset tummy (perhaps a hair ball) because he is molting, he got 3 jags, some sachets to rehydrate him and some medication, also advised to give him pineapple juice and baby food and hey presto after 2 days of round the clock TLC we've got our wee Thumper back.
Thanks for your advice as the vet said it was because we brought him in early that he is on the mend. Thank you all.
