Badger! UD Post 48 09-04

Please dont feel you cant say more Sky-O, everyone needs to be able to express their frustration and you should not feel that now certain issues are not to be mentioned. It's so upsetting to feel unsupported when we have a Bun whom we have serious concerns about.

I just feel I'm failing him. We're going back again tonight, to a different vet, and I'm going to see if his x-rays can be passed on to a specialist.

I even looked up your vet Jane to see how long it would take me to get to her  Talk about desperate!

awww you will get a diagnosis hun, your not failing him because your not accepting the being fobbed off. hope the new vet gets him better for you xxx

I'm in Ipswich, Suffolk. I see the best in the area, but they don't hold the knowledge that I need them to.

Good luck at the vets later. I think Floppy has to see who you were seeing tomorrow.

Does he mouth breathe all the time, or just when stressed? I have one with scar tissue in her nasal region from an old URI who mouth breathes when picked up, but is otherwise fine.

From your e-mail, I don't think she does MPHF. I quite like that vet. We are seeing C's brother tonight which should hopefully be better.

Its worse when he sleeps. If I pick him up straight after that then that's when he mouth breaths, but this is one of the cuddliest and people friend bunnies you could find. Handling doesn't stress him at all, its the shift of position so that he can't get the air in that's the problem.

When he is awake he has to pause from doing things to stick his head right up and breathe. When he sleeps, his head is as far up as it can go. He then straightens his head and puts it right to the floor (it must ache, and also this is normally his sleeping position of choice) and then has to lift it quickly up to carry on breathing.

He can't get comfortable and everything is very laboured al the time. You can see it right down to his hips when he breaths, and under his chin and it ripples along his body. His whole body moves with each breath.

Its not normal bunny behaviour. I can't see he had a chest issue long enough to have scarring.

oh gods how awful:(
we lost a bun some years baack and the pdsa vet sent him home mouth breathing..failing back legs and i think hed gone blind.....she sent him home saying hed be fine..he died about an hour later the awful person.....complaining about her is why i cant go there anymore so i pay even tho i cant afford to.
some vets need a short sharp shock:evil:

that sounds like heart probs doesnt it?

berties not nose in gthe air or mouth breathing but he has breathing probs and had a fit..all tied in with his pasurellella we reckon.

hes having his heart ultrasounded after i asked the vet if its possible..and she cant do it but her colleague can...its worth asking and pushing..but with a vet like youre seeing..not a chance.

i hope a vet somehwere else can indeed help:wave:

btw i used to live in great cornard in sudbury suffolk;)

Generally my vets are very good, but they are just at a loss really. That's not their fault, I just feel so sad and bad for my boy. I wish I could give him all he deserves. It breaks my heart I can't.

A bit of a trek, but Gavin Dean at haughley near Stowmarket is the one I use, he's good, not as confident in the other 2 for bunnies/piggies, but Gavins great. At least if he doesnt know how to help, he knows who can, sent our dog to Cambridge when he had an infection deep in the ear, even the Vets there thought it was a low survival chance, but he made it.

at least they are admitting they dont know hun, thats a really big step towards getting a diagnosis.
