  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is this normal?

Young Bun
Please forgive me for my never ending rabbit questions...these are my first buns so I'm not used to all this! Cat's I know, rabbits...not so much!
So, Edward is now fully litter trained (yay!) apart from when he does a mad dash out of his little tray and sprays poo and shavings everywhere. His wee and poo has never really smelt that much.
Bella is around the same age, they're both still young and seperated at the moment. We haven't even had her a week yet so of course she's pooing and weeing all over the place...and her poo and wee absolutely stink. It might be because obviously she's not litter trained yet...and therefore we can smell it more. But it's a really horrible musky, pungent smell. Is this because she's now sort of, sexually 'mature'? Or is there something else wrong? :?
She also has really runny cecotrophs (sp?) and has squished some of them into her towel...now I realised in a previous thread that this may be because her food was always down, so maybe she was eating that more than hay - I don't know?
We're taking both of them to the vet on Thursday anyway to get their Myxi jabs and then to get the spay and neuter booked so should I mention it then?
Hope you can helped a panicked owner!

She's 3 months. We're all going to see Christabel on Thursday! Really looking forward to meeting her. Thanks for recommending.
