Increasing Calcium?

Peanut-Toffee

Warren Veteran
Cut Toffees claws today and some of them just crumbled as I cut them, assuming this is lack of calcium?
Whats the best thing to increase it in rabbits?

Excess calcium is not good for bunnies so I wouldn't try and increase unless I was really sure it was needed, I would have a chat with the vet next time you see them..

I agree with H Maughn.
Nails are densly packed hair = protein. They grow from the nail bed at the base of the nail.
If your rabbits nails just crumbled, I would see a vet.
Increasing calcium intake may just give your bun urinary sludge issues.

The thing to remember is that even healthy people have crumbly nails that break and chip easily. I wouldn't think it would be anything to massively worry about.

It could be a nail infection / fungal thing like humans get :?

This sort of thing occurred to me, but I do not know whether it affects rabbits. I have not seen this problem on the forum during the last year. hence my advice to see a vet about it.
