  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

absess - would it cause bald patch?

posted before re alfie's jaw absess going but found a bald patch.

the skin of the bald patch isn't soft it is risen sort of lump and looks a bit sore almost like a scab.

if it was another absess would it cause a bald patch?? my friend thought it woudl just be a lump under the hair

if he has been in depocilin injections is it unlikely that could cause another abses on his back?

im worried because i cannot get back to vets until thursday 0 he is eating etc..

thanks - sorry for another thead re this problem

It is near on impossible to give an opinion without being able to see it :?

It may well be a scab. If he had a Baytril injection when he had his surgery that is VERY likely to cause a skin reaction which will scab over during the course of 10-14 days.

thanks jane - was unable to get a clear pic before it went dark..

its not very obviously only with alot of stroking can it be found i keep losing it so unsure of how long its been there

appreciate your help thanks
