Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Panacur Doses

Need to give my buns another course of Panacur, just a bit confused about the doses. Is it right that I give Pickle 2 graduations as he weighs 2.8kg and Timmy 1 graduation as he is only 1.9kg?

Also, can I use a syringe that I already started to use on their last course?

Thank you!

I'd check with your vet about giving Pickle 2 doses, as he's only slightly over the weight for one dose. Technically your doses are right but as it's one graduation per 2.5kg, and Pickle is nowhere near 5kg, I'd check just in case.

It depends on how long your syringe has been open, if it's been more than a week I'd chuck it and start a new one. Also check the expiry date on the box.

Yes you have the dosage correct.

Personally I would start a new syringe as the old one has probably gone crusty inside :?

Great, thanks for the advice all. I will throw away the old tube and have a look at getting the liquid version.:D

Dose is correct - very safe margins on it so 2 grads for a 2.5kg bun is fine. If its been stored correctly the old syringe should be fine if in date, maybe get rid of the first notch worth which may have been exposed to the air? If you go for the liquid i'd recommend putting it onto pellets, adding a little hot water and mixing to make porridgey mush, then serving when cold. My buns totally love it!
