  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Is she too old to be spayed?

 My Aunty's dutch rabbit is 4 years old. My Aunty says she's a horrible ****** and bites everyone! I suggested getting her spayed but she said "i'm not spending my money on that!" The poor bun has not even got a name.

I have spoke to my Mum and she would make the perfect girlfriend for Jasper if we can get her spayed but, is she too old? (I haven't even asked my Aunty if i can adopt her bun, but she'll prob say yes cos she didn't seem to care about her!) :?

So what do you think? :)

So long as she is otherwise healthy I don't think she us too old. Best to get it done and decrease her risk of cancer. :)

Not at all! She should be fine to be spayed. I'd say it's a different matter at 7/8..but 4 is fine.:D

not at all as long as vet rabbit savvy i have had a 7yr old a 9 yr old and a 4yr old done with no issues. x

Just say that rabbit that you dont like would make a super girlfriend for jasper and as you dont like her can i have her?
Good luck....but if she doesnt like her im sure she'll be fine. :)

spaying fine, dont be too dis heartened if she continues to be still agressive though, while spaying does help for lots of reasons, cancers toilet training etc , it MAY not control her agression she will most likely perfect for your bun as a wife, and may just not like hoomins, spesh as the poor lass has no name and seems to have not been given a chance to shine out bless her. BUTTTTTTT she could completely change, im just making you aware though hun :)
