Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Flippy had an op to remove sludge from his bladder almost 4 weeks ago. He is now eating, drinking and pooing well. He still has blood in his urine so is on antibiotic injections for that. He is weeing ok but its very orange. The vet seems to think its pigmentation from eating grass or greens but none of the other buns are like this. any ideas please ?

Hiya Jane,

Flippys urine is now illuminus yellow!. He is fine in himself and the vet says its just pigmentation from his food. I am not sure if its to do with him having the sludgy bladder and the op to remove it. I have googled the internet but everything just says its pigmentation

Has the Vet sent off another Urine sample for testing ?

Has he had a recent blood test? I am thinking of checking Liver function in particular ?

hi Jane,
I think I have got to the bottom of it. As i found out Kale is high in calcuim i dont give it to him anymore, and guess what, his urine is more normal now.
After his cystomasty the vet did regular water samples and did some blood tests at the surgery. I had to wait about twenty minutes and they all came back fine. thanks for your help but hopefully its sorted. Barb
