  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi, my dwarf lop rabbit has been slowly going off his food and not pooing much his poos being odd shaped or strung together.
Also he has become aggressive towards me and he bit me yesterday and the wound was quite deep.
I took him to the vets today and he couldn't find anything wrong with him, so to get his stomach moving again he gave snowy some fibreplex and zantac for a few days.
Has anyone had this problem with their bunny before because I don't understand why he is like this.
Thanks

Is he anywhere near your new Buck ?

If so that may be the problem- he can smell an entire male and it's stressing him out.

Snowys cage is on top the cage where my neutered male and spayed female, the new new buck is next to the neutered male and females cage.
If he is stressed out by this shall I put his cage next to the neutered pair and put the new buck on the top of the cages or do I put the new buck in a different room.

I'd put the new Buck in a different room so that Snowy cant smell him :)

Hi, Snowy has now been hospitilized because he is not eating, they still can't find anything wrong we will just have to see whether the other medication works he has been on zantac for 4 days and fiberplex for 2 days but not much improvement. If the new buck is causing the problem I might have to reconsider keeping him.
