  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Blaze is booked in :(

well rang my local vet today to ask about neutering Blaze and they said it would cost between £62 - £99 dependant on the day how much anaesthetic etc, is this a normal price? as i paid that for my dog to be done and thought rabbits would be cheaper? i have been told in the past that my vets is a rip off but never took much notice

anyway i phoned the vets inside my local pets at home and they said £68 inclusive off check-up the following day after op and check-up the week after plus because i work for the NHS i also got a 10% discount as well so it will cost about £61 with after-care as well ....so i ended up booking him in for fri 26th march and now i,m panicking thinking have i done right thing or should i have gone to my own vets and paid more :?

has anyone else used companion care vets as i would love to hear feedback on your visit good or bad

I understand that each Companion Care is different so one persons experience will not be anothers . .

personally my local one is c***p and I wouldn't take a rabbit there if it was the last vets in town.

i would ask if they have an exotic vet there, i personally dont go to our pets at home one as my vets has a specialised rabbit vet and normal vets dont get as much training with exotics as they do cats and dogs, but just my opinon really i feel happy leaving casper with my vet but i think i would worry all day with another vet =]

Rimmis chop cost me £69.... a memerable number, lol. At a very bun savvy vets about 40 mins from me, that included a follow up app 7-10 days later to check it healed ok. The op was done by the one and only Jason Burgess *swoon* in their hospital (its a big vets with its own attached hospital and pet store ... for pet stuff, no pets are sold there of course).

I would have asked if they had any bun savvy (sometimes know as 'exotics') specialists. :thumb: Care and knowledge is more important than cost.

Neutering our males was £48 each. This is in south Manchester. I have never heard of charging more based on the amount of ga used.
