Alpha Buck
Hi,
My buck had been having problems with his ears. We've only had him for 4wks on saturday and is 10/11months old.
He keeps scratching his ears like theres something in there. When he went for his VHD jab last wednesday, we told the vet and she looked in but couldnt see anything. Just a little red mark which we believe is due to his nails were so long, so probably nicked himself. But she gave us ear drops(canaural) just incase. Well they seem to make it worse because on friday, at the base of the ears they were so red raw and looking sore, where he had been scratching more since we were giving him the drops. So rung the vets and they said stop the drops which we did. That was friday afternoon and by the evening they werent looking as sore.
We took him back saturday morning, where another vet looked in his ears but still didnt find anything, She checked his fur and nothing. She checked to makesure he was cleaning himself elsewhere and he was ok. So she gave him a jab for mites just incase, eventhough cant find any. Plus to try again with the drops abd rubbing some into the base of the ear aswell as in the ear. Started them on sunday morn and by lunchtime he was red raw again round his ears so we stopped straight away again because there causing more harm than good.
We have left him to see how he is doing today before ringing the vets up again tomorrow. He is eating, drinking, weeing and pooping so thats ok. But, especialy in his run, he keeps shaking his head and really does dig deep when going in his ear. He also likes to roll over like trying to dislodge something in his ear. Is this significant?
He was an old show buck before i got him, so dnt know an awful lot of history. But he hadnt had any jabs before (now had both myxi and VHD) so i doubt hes been panacured either. Do u recken that would help?
Im really confused as to what to do because he is acting like there is something in his ears when 2 vets said they couldnt see anything:? Is its possible there is something but its too far down the ear canal to see? Both vets used the microscope gadget to look in.
My buck is booked in for neturing on the 23rd of this month. So if it hasnt cleared by then, do u reckon they could look deeper under GA?
Sorry a very long post.
Would really appreciate wny thoughts and help
