Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Leg not working properly after spay

This may be just chance, but Crunchie's front leg isn't working properly after the spay she had on Friday. She is unwilling to put weight on it and it seems a bit shaky. other than that, she is fine after the spay - eating plenty (though not with such vigour as before), weeing and pooing, you can't even see where her operation was, and she no longer looks so sorry for herself. I thought originally that she was walking a bit funny and bandy-legged because she was uncomfortable (which would be understandable and I'm sure I'd be the same) but now her back legs are back to normal and her other front leg seems fine, though she still has a little trouble getting up to standing from lying.

She does have her follow up this evening, but it would be helpful to know if anyone else has had this problem before. it could be completely unrelated to the spay of course, or something that will go away once she is more healed.

i dont know about spays causign this unles she suffered a brain issue during the spay? it oculd be she has something stuck in the paw or has sprained/broken the leg (completly seperate issue to the spay prehaps falling over when trying to get up initially?) or it could be a reaction prehaps ot ga or other meds (though i dont know of this) she hasnt had a vhd injection recently as cyclap can cause a limp? x

Thanks for your reply Bunlover. Her VHD was in December, and other than the GA and painrelief (which she's had before when she had to have her teeth filed), she's not on any medications. Hopefully then it's just a sprain - that'd be better than a break or brain injury. I couldn't see anything stuck in it, but it's always been tricky to look at her feet, she's never liked it!

get the vet to check it over just in case though as it may mean alonger cage rest than normal if it is a sprain .x

The vet checked it last night, said it was a bit swollen compared to the other leg, but she couldn't feel a break thank goodness. She thought Crunchie might have got up awkwardly after the spay. She has sent me home with some pain relief, and told me to go back on Friday for another check-up. She didn't seem too worried about it, and naturally Crunchie was walking on it fairly well in the vet  Her wound is healing really well, and I reckon she seems calmer already - no growling this morning when I took them breakfast.
