There has been concern among rabbit owners over the side effects of Cylap for some time, and it now appears that its data sheet information has been changed to reflect the growing evidence of its adverse effects. The new information from the National Office of Animal Health states that "50% of animals will show palpable reactions" in the form of swelling, redness and hair loss, as well as pyrexia and forelimb lameness. I would be very grateful if you could source Lapinject for me, which I believe is increasingly replacing Cylap as the first choice of VHD vaccine among many exotics/rabbit specialist vets. I understand the drawback to Lapinject is that the multiple dose bottle must be used within a few hours of opening, but I am prepared to pay for all the doses to cover the wastage.
I was charged £33 to vaccinate both of mine, including the unused doses in the bottle
