Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Bunny has matted fur near her bum, should I do this...

I changed Petal's bedding to just hay last week but I've gone back to the old bedding because the new set up I tried was a nightmare and didn't soak up her wee or mess.

Now the old bedding is back she's clean again and no more problems, however there is a still some matting and muck around her 'bits'. It's not from runny droppings, it's just stuck and dried from last week, she hasn't budged it and I can't either. Tried cutting the fur off but it's too close to her skin and sensitive area! Can't comb it out, and I tried holding her and running her back end under the tap and rubbing with a clean sponge but she didn't like it and I couldn't get it all off.

I was thinking I'll have to sit her in a shallow bowl of warm water and soak it off or something but I know she wont stay still, plus how do you dry the fur when it's soaked :?

Any suggestions would be a great help :)

I think soaking her bum may work, but make sure you do dry her off completley. you could use a hair dryer on a low setting to dry her?
