How much...

Do you seem to spend on the buns each month? or each week?

I have eight buns!

I buy a bale every two weeks so thats £8
Veg i usually get reduced, working in a supermarket for you ;) so around £2 a week.
Food, buy big bags so i would say £15-£20 a month.
Id say around £5-£10 on toys
Then whatever Vet bills may pop up.

ETA megazorb £7 a month :)

about 20 per month on food and hay, a bale lasts me a month at 7 pound,

i give them my veg, i grow my own herbs and have a willow tree so im lucky, just vet bills that kill

Monthly;

Hay- £2 for normal and £8 for Oat Hay
Food- Science Selective. 1 big bag lasts about 3 months so on average I would say £5 per month.
Treats- £10
Veg- £20

Plus vets bills, although *touch wood* no-one has seen a vet for 2 months now!

I was thinking about this the other day and worked it out to be £8 per month per bun

hay £8 per month
veg and pellets £10 per month
megazorb £6 every three months so £2 per month
vaccs £45 per bun per year so £19 a month

but then there are all the little treats and special hays on top of that so probably a lot more

Per month for 24 rabbits:

Hay 4 bales per month = £12
Pellets, approx half a sack each of SS, Excel and A&P = £17
Veg = approx £40
Megazorb approx 9 or 10 sacks = £70
Plus vets bills and medical supplies purchased via the internet on top of that

Total = £139

Cost per rabbit per month = less than £6...which sounds better than the overall figure!!!

Compared to what others are saying too much as I only have 1 bun.

£13 a month on hay
£4 a week on veg
£7 every 2-3 months on megazorb
£4 every couple of months for ss pellets
£4 a month on toys

I have loads of treats in storage at the moment so am spending no money in that area.

Well we've only had baby Jess for 2 weeks today, so when i get paid next thursday that will be the first big shop for 2 buns but up to date just for Joejoe i think:

£4 every other month on excel tasty nuggets
£4 a month on hay
£4 a month on straw
£10 a month on treats and veg
£5 a month on wood pellet cat litter as he's llergic to wood shavings
£3 every other month on cage cleaner spray
£10.76 on petplan (and seeing as he's run up vets bills of £1600 in the last 2 weeks alone - worth every single penny!)
about £60 a year on vaccinations

so thats about £40 a month

I buy normal bags of meadow hay weekly - 5 bags - £12.50
Burns green oat hay/Oxbow timothy hay probably around £40 a month, maybe more
Straw - 3 bags a month - £4.50
SS adult pellets monthly - £15
SS baby pellets monthly - £6
Toys, probably around £20 a month
Cage cleaner - £6 a month
Plus vets bills that pop up :? Got Scamps neuter soon.

Thats for 5 buns :)

Then theres veg, for 8 buns, i spend around £10-£15 a week

Is there nowhere local where you can buy bales of hay and straw? Your cars big enough!

esh i feel like a stinge, i have 5 buns and some of you spend more in a month than i do

I have 8 buns plus 3 fosters, so at the mo I spend £75.00 on food/bedding monthly :-

hay (baled) - £7.00
pellets - £7.95
oat hay - £24
fresh food - £36
barley rings, etc.. - £2

plus any extras like new litter trays, new mats for the sheds, repair bills for sheds and runs, vet costs, meds etc.....

I save around £18 a month towards the annual vacc/worming bill, so in total I need £93.00 a month to be ticking over without any emergencies:shock::shock::shock: ***wish I hadn't added this up*****

Way too much for someone on a very low income

Dust Free Hay - £40
Treat hays, toys and things from Hay Experts - between £25 and £40
Megazorb x2 £16

So probably close to £100 a month for two bunnies

*hangs head in shame*

I buy a big round bale of hay for £20 & that lasts ages - I sometimes use it to top up my horses haylage too.

I get free veg from my Sainsbury's local - I also buy cheap-sale stuff from bigger supermarkets, or they have a bit of mine. I get one of those big bags of horse carrots - £1.20 once a month that lasts me a while.

Pellets - I get excel - think it's 10kg bags, for £11.50 - I def don't buy more than one a month - I'm not sure how often tbh - maybe 6weeks?

I use wood based cat litter - I bulk buy that, so haven't bought for about 2months. Newspapers I nick from work. I probably spend £50 a year on toys - over the year.

Mine are quite cheap really:D Until we get to vets bills:?

1 bale meadow hay monthly £6.00
1 bale timothy hay monthly £6.00
Megazorb, probably use up to 1 or 2 bags a week so about £40
Pellets £10
Veg about £5 a week so £20 per month

They've cost me a lot this month though, Sophie's stasis episode cost me £160 and then 4 of the others had to have vaccs and I paid for their new shed so have ended up spending over £600 on them

Wow I feel like a right stingy bum!

Megazorb - £7 every 2 or 3 months
Hay - £4.50 every 6 weeks
Pellets - £4 every 6-8 weeks
Veg - £3-5 per week

I very rarely buy her toys as I make my own, I also made her a big fleecy bed last week (so technically £5 in fabric). I hardly ever need to buy her treats as she gets more presents from other people than I do - she even got £30 for christmas which bought her lots of nommys! And my MIL has an apple tree in her garden so gets lots of branches from that.
