  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bit worried about Twinkle...

I picked her up yesterday evening and noticed she had a red spot - with no fur on - on the back of her back foot heel! I phoned the vet last night they think its a pressure point, they told me to put vaseline on it and cover all the floors with blankets so she not walking on any hard floor. All of this i have obviously done, I am not sure if its any better, do you think i should take her to the vets tommorrow or give it another day or two?! I know i am a very panicy bunny mummy!

Thank you for reading and helping.

Hi if it's not getting better I would take her to the vet or at least ring them again. I don't have experience of this but, I know others do. Hope you get it sorted and it doesn't get worse then infected which is the worry I suppose x

That is exactly what i am worried about - i dont want it becoming an open wound. I think if it is no better or worse in the morning then i will make a vets appointment, even if he says its fine it will put my mind at ease!
